- Okay, this is my burden to bear, though I am slow to get started on it.
- My Falcon's been put back together, and has been for some time now, but
- the major problem is and has been lack of harware info. First of all, I
- agree that Midi will be most properly used for sound, so I've canned the
- idea about MIDI networking. Also, there's at least one good reason for
- using serial line for the networking... The speed. With HSMOD or a couple
- of other software patches speeds up to 230400 (I think) baud is possible,
- which should be more than sufficient for the networking, even if up to six
- or eight machines were to be connected. This guess is based on the info
- that was provided earlier about networking stress when DOOM was being
- played by network.
-
- However, this would quite efficiently make me rather useless on the
- networking part. i have a tiny little bit of experience in programming for
- MIDI communication, but none whatsoever about serial lines. Since I'm now
- more into writing GEM applications (And a very nice Window Library) in
- Pure C, I'd not really like to spend too much resources on trying to get
- into serial comms problems. (It's so straightforward to communicate by
- MIDI - it's kindof locked to 31250 baud (Though I managed to get it to
- work at sixteen times that speed thanks to a friend's cidong expertise),
- with serial lines there's 50 through 38400 baud with no extensions, plus
- lots of other speeds with patches...). The best thing would be so have
- someone with the correct experience do this part of the program... Doen
- anybody have any ideas? I mean, if I'm to abandon the networking part, at
- least I should be held responsible for getting hold of a person to replace
- me!

- Well, a general-purpose GEM-shell for all the Bad Mood utilities and the
- game itself would be nice to have - sortof a BM Shell with the option to
- also start the level editor and other stuff.
